'Highland Fling'

The latest project was the new 'Wally' 82 'Highland Fling' being built at Goetz in Newport RI

My role was to install the new 'Olectric' PLC automated sailing system, get it comissioned and up and running for the Ida Lewis race. The PLC controls the engine, hydraulic package, winches, propulsion, and sail controls.This was just a warm up and there is a full schedule of
races planned next year.

This is another PLC automated boat, with push button control for all sail functions. In total there are 35 different hyraulic functions. A little less than Leopard 3's 152 functions, but reliability is the major factor with this inshore racing yacht.

This 'Wally' will go up against other boats in its class but will also enter the racing division for worldwide regatta and without doubt give the other Maxi's a run for their money!

I am now heading back to 'Unfurled' to install a new H3000 system for their Caribbean season and then off to 'Project Aiyana'. Something that I will be doing a lot of sailing on next year.
